Our "Maison d’Hôtes": a family tradition

B&B Il Torrione is located next to the main residence, where several historic buildings, nestled around two courtyards, complement the “villa life” of times gone by. They have been restored and transformed into elegant and welcoming suites and reception rooms. Among the restored buildings is the 19th-century silkworm farm (the building where silkworms were raised, “bigat” in Piedmontese). Here, the beauty of the historic setting blends with the convenience of every modern comfort, offering the opportunity for a truly unique bed and breakfast stay.

Studios and one-bedroom apartments are equipped for a short stay or a longer, relaxing holiday: bike rides, carriage rides, or long, rejuvenating walks in the vast, peaceful park.

The Torrione is also a starting point for visits to the cities of art, Turin and Saluzzo, and to the Royal Palaces of Savoy (see the “Near Us” section).

Finally, for the more sporty, there is the possibility of a dip in the pool or a game of tennis, at the same facilities within the complex.

Being a guest at the Torrione today is like going back to the old days, when life in the villa was a holiday among friends, where a pleasant vie de château took place in the Piedmont countryside.

Finally, Il Torrione is also PET FRIENDLY, as small dogs are allowed to stay.

The apartments, designed for the stay of 2 or more people, can be studios or two-room apartments, or true multi-room accommodations, with a kitchen area, equipped with dishes, and the possibility of additional beds.
The “apartments” option also includes:

The Surroundings

An Oasis of History and Nature at the Foot of the Alps

Situated at the foot of the hilly area that climbs towards the amphitheater of the Western Alps, dominated by the majestic Monviso, one of the highest peaks in Italy, the Villa Doria “Il Torrione” property is approximately 2 km from Pinerolo, a historic city of chivalry, home to the National Museum of the same name. From here, you can admire the ancient village, which from the Cathedral of San Donato rises towards the Sanctuary of San Maurizio, the Diocesan Art Museum, and the Civic Art Collection of Palazzo Vittone.

A short distance away is Saluzzo with its castle, churches, and ancient palaces, rich in history and works of art, including the Castello della Manta, which houses one of the most important cycles of secular paintings of the fifteenth century.

About 50 km away, towards the French border, lies Sestriere, a renowned winter sports resort, which, along with Pinerolo, hosted the 2006 Winter Olympics. Just 25 km away is Turin, the capital of Piedmont, with its precious artistic masterpieces, including the Egyptian Museum, the Chapel of the Holy Shroud, the Sabauda Gallery, the Cinema Museum (inside the Mole Antonelliana), and the Gallery of Modern Art.

Thanks to its strategic location, the Torrione is also at the center of a series of historic residences linked to the Savoy dynasty. Within a 50 km radius, you’ll find: the Royal Palace of Turin, the Guarini-designed Palazzo Carignano, Stupinigi Castle, Rivoli Castle, Agliè Castle, and Racconigi Castle.
